DAY 1
DELHI

  • Arrive at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The gritty and chaotic city offers plenty of points of interest to keep you busy for a few days.
  • Explore the city of Delhi with a heritage walk by Bay Berry Adventures through some of the most popular yet undervalued monuments of Delhi. They will take you to visit Qutub Minar, Meharuli Archeological Park, Old Fort, Red Fort, Tughlakabad Fort, Hauz Khas, Lodhi Gardens, Humayun Tomb, Feroz Shah Kotla, Chandni Chowk, and 1857 Revolt.   • Visit Jama Masjid Mosque, is the oldest and largest mosque in Delhi. In the middle of such a chaotic city, the massive courtyard (which can hold 25,000 people) is an oasis of calm. It was constructed per the orders of Shah Jahan, the same man who had the Taj Mahal built!
  • Visit The Red Fort, was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for about 200 years until 1856. The Red Fort accommodated the emperors and their families and was the political center of the Mughal state.
  • Visit Qutub Minar, this 73-meter tall minaret, or tower, dates from 1192. It is the main monument that remains at the Qutub Minar complex, a World Heritage site.
  • Visit Humayun’s Tomb, Mughal Emperor Humayun’s tomb was built in 1569 and is one of the most popular landmarks in Delhi for visitors.
  • Visit the Humayun’s Tomb - Sundar Nursery - Nizamuddin Basti is one of the densest ensembles of medieval Islamic buildings in India, inhabited by a vibrant local community with 700 years of living culture. The nursery is in fact an archaeological site there are scattered remains of Mughal period structures including three nationally protected monuments, together with pavilions, tombs, grave platforms, wells, and a mosque platform.

DAY 2
OLD DELHI

  • Visit Sheeshganj Gurudwara Sikh Temple. In Old Delhi, stop by Sheeshganj Gurudwara, a large Sikh temple. This was the first Sikh temple Tim and I had ever been to, and we were impressed by what we learned there. Visitors to Asia will often visit Hindu or Buddhist temples, but Sikh temples are rarer outside of India.
  • Explore the Spice Girls Tour of Old Delhi is a deep dive into the local culture of India’s bustling capital city. We will start with a brief history about the iconic Lal Quila, which was the residence of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal. After that we will briefly explore the Jain and Hindu religious architectures along the narrow lanes of this street market.
  • Take a short tuk-tuk ride with Delhi Food Walks, to Asia's biggest spice market to have a look at a variety of both local and exotic spices followed by a visit to a flower market. Here we will take an invigorating tea break. This whole experience is quite surreal.
  • After a little sightseeing with Delhi Food Walks, start our culinary adventure with the famous Aloo Tikki or shallow fried potato patty on the street of Chandni Chowk and enjoy a scrumptious meal of Parantha i.e. Deep-fried stuffed flat Indian bread from the iconic centuries-old lane called Gali Paranthe Wali.

DAY 3
AKSHARDHAM MANDIR

  • After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to explore the Akshardham Mandir.
  • Visit the Akshardham Mandir, is the heart of the Swaminarayan Akshardham complex is an effort to offer a home to God that honors. His glory and divinity a timeless, beautiful and peaceful home for God here on Earth. It is a temporal abode of God and the devotion, values and culture He inspires.
  • Visit Garbhagruh, worship to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Items sanctified by Bhagwan Swaminarayan during his time on Earth are also preserved for darshan directly behind the garbhagruh. Around the garbhagruh, special altars are devoted to other Hindu deities of Sanatana Dharma: Shri Sita-Ram, Shri Radha-Krishna, Shri Lakshmi-Narayan, and Shri Shiv-Parvati.
  • Visit Nine Mandapam, are Swaminarayan, is a human effort to bring a piece of that divinity to this world and gift it back to God as his earthly home. Paramhansa, feature murtis of the 24 different forms of Lord Keshav. The ornate ceiling of Ghanshyam Mandapam features the delicate murti of Ghanshyam, the child-form of Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
  • Visit the Narayan Peeth, It is an ancient Hindu tradition to perform pradakshinas or circumambulations as a sign of respect and prayers. The faithful walk clockwise around mandirs to reinforce the belief that God should be the center of one’s life.
  • Visit Gajendra Peeth or Elephant Plinth presents stories and legends of elephants with nature, with humans and with God. This depiction of elephants is to honor these grand yet gentle animals and also share messages of peace, beauty and gentleness.
  • Visit the Bharat Upavan, which is a magnificent natural and cultural ambience through its green gardens and bronze statues of some great role models of India. India's child gems, valorous warriors, freedom fighters, great women and other national figures inspire visitors with values and pride for our great nation.
  • Enjoy a breathtaking spiritual multimedia water show in the evening at 7.15 pm daily expect Monday. Multi-color lasers, video projects, underwater flames, water jets and surround sound in symphony with lights and live actors produce a captivating and inspiring presentation of an important story from the Kena Upanishad.

ARRIVAL INTO AGRA

MANKAMESHWAR TEMPLE

  • Visit Mankameshwar Temple, which is located in the heart of Agra city. This temple is an ideal way to add a spiritual dimension to your trip and experience the cultural diversity of Agra. DAY 5

  • Visit the Taj Mahal is one of the most iconic monuments in the world, and a visit to Agra is incomplete without exploring this stunning masterpiece of Mughal architecture. When you enter the complex, the first glimpse of the Taj Mahal will leave you spellbound. The intricate carvings, the flawless symmetry, and the sheer grandeur of the monument are awe-inspiring.   • Take a walk through the gardens, you can see the Taj Mahal from different angles.  Take Photographs.
  • Visit the Taj Mahal Complex, where you can find some of the best handicrafts in Agra. The complex has several shops that sell marble inlay work, jewellery, and textiles.
  • Visit the Taj Mahal during Full Moon Nights - An Experience like no other in the World “Only let this one tear-drop, this Taj Mahal, glisten spotlessly bright on the cheek of time, forever and ever.” - Rabindranath Tagore. NOTE: Night viewing of Taj Mahal is available on five days in a month i.e. on full moon night and two nights before and two nights after the full moon.

 

AGRA FORT

  • Visit the Agra Fort. Explore the various monuments within the fort.
  • Visit Jahangiri Mahal (Jahangir's Palace). It was the principal zenana palace (palace for women belonging to the royal household), used mainly by the Rajput wives of Akbar.
  • Visit Khas Mahal. The Khas Mahal is an airy edifice, overlooking the specially laid Angoori Bagh (grape garden; a simple formal Mughal garden). Windows closed with jali (intricately perforated decorative stone screens) present fabulous view of the riverfront. The two copper-roofed pavilions built in the Bengali traditions were meant for prominent ladies of the harem. On three sides of this garden are residential quarters of women. Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) or the royal hammam (bath) is decorated with myriad glass pieces and a central fountain.
  • Visit Musamman Burj (an octagonal tower), within the Agra fort is the most romantic, ornamental pavilion wherein lived two beautiful and powerful Mughal queens-Nurjahan (Jahangir's chief queen) and Mumtaz Mahal (Shahjahan's chief queen).
  • Visit Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience), was built by Shahjahan in 1636-37. It is a small hall with double marble columns inlaid with pietra dura decoration. Here the Mughal emperor received important dignitaries or foreign ambassadors.
  • Visit Diwan-I-Aam (hall of public audience). Here was kept the famous Peacock Throne ordered by Shahjahan. He met officials and commoners and listened to the petitioners in the Diwan-I-Aam.
  • Visit the Moti Masjid (pearl mosque), its three domes in white marble raising their heads over the red sandstone wall. Moti Masjid is known for its sheer grandeur and perfect proportions.


TOMB OF ITIMAD-UD-DAULAH, AKBAR’S TOMB AND MEHTAB BAGH

  • Explore the historical monuments of Agra.

  • Visit the Itmad-ud-Daulah Tomb, also known as the Baby Taj, is a beautiful mausoleum located on the left bank of the River Yamuna in Agra. It is a must-visit destination for those interested in Mughal architecture and history.
  • Visit Akbar’s Tomb is a beautiful mausoleum that was built in the 17th century and is an architectural masterpiece. The tomb is made of red sandstone and is a blend of various architectural styles, including Hindu, Islamic, and Persian.
  • Explore Mehtab Bagh is a typical Mughal styled garden with four garden layout. The garden is square shaped and measures 300 meters on each side.

 

AGRA SHOPPING AT SADAR BAZAAR | KINARI BAZAAR

  • Agra is famous for its handicrafts, Visit Agra’s Sadar Bazaar and Kinari Bazaar. The Sadar Bazaar is located near Agra Cantonment and is a bustling market that sells everything from clothes to jewellery to spices.
  • Visit Kinari Bazaar, is a narrow lane that is famous for its colourful bangles, embroidered fabrics, and zari work.

DAY 6
AGRA | FATEHPUR SIKRI AND SHOPPING

  • After breakfast at the hotel. Explore the town of Fatehpur Sikri.
  • Visit the Buland Darwaza, (also known as “Gate of Victory”) is a gateway known for its magnificence and architectural beauty. It’s a maze of intricate carvings, delicate latticework and complex geometrical patterns. And it stands as a symbol of power, authority and conquest. The gate stands tall at an impressive height of 54 meters. It was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar to commemorate his conquest of Gujarat.
  • Visit the Jama Mosque, Jama Masjid or Jami Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India and situated on the highest point of the ridge in Fatehpur Sikri Complex. This is one of the most notable tourist attractions to visit in Fatehpur Sikri as part of Agra tour. This mosque was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.
  • Visit the Panch Mahal which is easily recognizable as a five-storey palace, is one of the tallest monuments in Fatehpur Sikri. It’s an open-sided palace whose unique design and regal aura is bound to leave you mesmerized. The graceful tapering ceilings, stacked over a maze of pillars, is a sight to behold. Panch Mahal is an elegant, columnar structure built as a pleasure palace by Emperor Akbar. He used the place to relax and unwind and enjoy being entertained.
  • Visit the Tomb of Salim Chishti, the beautiful square marble tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti is one of the finest examples of Mughal architecture in India. Situated near Zanana Rauza and facing south (towards Buland Darwaja), it enshrines the burial place of the Sufi saint who blessed Akbar with his son and heir and lived a religious and austere life here.
  • Visit the Ibadat Khana or House of Worship was a prayer or a meeting room built by Akbar at his palace in Fatehpur Sikri. It was built to gather spiritual leaders of different religious grounds so as to conduct a discussion on the teachings of the respective religious leaders.
  • Drive back to Agra. Enjoy the scenic car journey of 52 min (35.6 km) via Fatehpur Sikri Road from Fatehpur Sikri to Agra.

DAY 7
JAIPUR

  • After an early breakfast at the hotel, check out from the hotel at 7.30 am.
  • Drive towards Jaipur. Enjoy the scenic car journey from Agra to Jaipur 4 hr 19 min (247.0 km) via Bikaner, Agra Road.

  • In the evening visit Nahargarh Fort, which means 'abode of tigers,' has become a favourite spot for those seeking panoramic views of Jaipur. The entire fort is intricately designed with delicate carvings and beautiful frescoes. NOTE: As entry into the fort is closed after 5 pm, you can hangout outside to enjoy cool breeze and spend quiet time.
  • Visit Amber Fort Palace, built around 1600, the fort has an extensive palace complex. There are stunning painted gates, marble columns, walls of mosaics and tiles, and many courtyards.
  • Visit Panna Meen Ka Kund, is the only well-restored and functional stepwell in Jaipur. It belongs to an era when piped water didn’t exist. The Baori or Bawri were part of the community and society residing around it. It is an eight-story step-well and was designed in such a way that one could reach water at any level using a flight of steps.
  • Visit the Govind Dev Ji Temple, is amongst the seven temples of Vrindavan Thakur, which includes Shri Radha Vallabhji, Shri Banke Bihariji, and many others. The temple itself has elaborate designs on its structure, and a striking overall design. NOTE: The evening prayers, or Aarti, start at 5:45pm, 6:45pm, and 9pm (30 minutes earlier in winter).

JAIPUR

  • Visit Gaitore Ki Chhatriyan, is the royal crematorium grounds for the Kachhwaha, a Rajput clan that ruled in the region. Gaitore is a completely unique area with its personal splendor and allure that displays the royal beyond of Jaipur and its royal Maharajas.
  • Visit Jawahar Circle, the colorful Patrika gate is actually part of a garden that sits in a traffic cycle. It is pretty new and doesn’t have any major historical significance. I didn’t visit, but I think it’s great to see cities anywhere in the world incorporating green space where they can.
  • Visit Royal Palace and City Palace, this colorful complex of gardens and palaces is a delight for those who love architecture and photography. The palaces date from different eras and are a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture.
  • Visit Jantar Mantar, near the City Palace sits this collection of nineteen astronomical instruments, including the world’s largest stone sundial, built by Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734. Bonus, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Visit Wind Palace are also known as Hawa Mahal, with its 953 windows on its facade, is where royal women could observe daily life outside the palace. They weren’t allowed to show themselves in public. The best views of this palace are on the terraces of cafes across the street.
  • Visit Johari Bazaar which is outside the entrance gate of Hawa Mahal, this place is known for shopping an array of local things like jewellery, juttis, bandhani kurtas and sarees, Jaipuri print bed sheets, block printed fabrics and Jaipuri blankets etc.
  • Visit Jaipur Modern Store and Kitchen, Jaipur Modern is more than just a store and cafe; it's a journey through India's rich craft heritage, reimagined through a modern lens for today's discerning clientele. They create creates small collections of home linen and textiles with its in-house team of artisans made in its sustainable and internationally accredited Block print factory in outskirts of Jaipur.
  • Enjoy your lunch at Jaipur Modern Kitchen: Their community-driven all-day restaurant and bakery focuses on healthy, slow cooking techniques and partnerships with regional producers. The menu offers a wide range of vegan and gluten-free options, featuring highlights like Marwar Tacos that infuse local flavors into modern familiar dishes. Must see and capture, Collaborating between the skills of Jaipur Modern’s in-house craftsmen, the cafe wall is entirely constructed from 400 wooden bricks, each one requiring three hours to intricately hand embroider.

  • Visit Dolls Museum, in Jaipur showcases a fascinating collection of traditional Rajasthani and international dolls. The massive collection of puppets and figurines in the museum is displayed in five different galleries.
