INDIA ENERGY WEEK CONFERENCES

The India Energy Week conferences will serve as a premier platform for extensive discussions and knowledge exchange, hosting over 400 speakers and 4,000 delegates. The Strategic Conference will bring together Ministers, global CEOs, and influential business leaders to deliberate on the trends shaping the future of energy. The Technical Conference will showcase energy experts and pioneers who will share their technical expertise, innovative research, and industry best practices.

Strategic Conference

Global economic uncertainty remains elevated, weighing on growth, increasing risk of economic stagnation and sustained high inflation. In addition, recent geopolitical events have amplified challenges with soaring energy prices, impacting consumer demand and slowing industrial growth. OECD’s 2023 Economic Outlook forecasts global GDP growth for 2023 at 2.7%, the lowest annual rate since the global financial crisis, except for the pandemic year.

Developing countries are uniquely affected by these challenges. According to the United Nations, 2.4 billion people lack access to cleaner cooking fuels and close to 700 million people lack access to electricity. These countries are also disproportionally impacted by the worst effects of climate change including extreme weather events. In fact, 2022 was one of the warmest years on record, and those recorded temperatures are likely to be surpassed in 2023 and 2024. Therefore, the urgency to ensure just, secure, affordable, and sustainable energy supply is greater than ever before.

Developed in line with India’s global priorities and net-zero vision, the India Energy Week 2024 strategic conference will invite global energy ministers, CEOs, policymakers and business leaders to contemplate, deliberate and take decisive steps to navigate the ever-evolving energy landscape across a wide range of ministerial, leadership and spotlight sessions, delegates will hear vital insights into the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the energy sector.

Technical Conference

Asia has become the world's largest and fastest growing energy demand centre. Propelled by rapid economic progress, Asian countries are shaping new supply chains, corridors, and pathways for secure and sustainable energy future.

Current trends are prompting governments to pay closer attention to the resilience and diversity of clean energy supply chains. Tight energy markets have triggered a reassessment of energy policies and priorities, resulting in profoundly recalibrated global energy trade. Sustainability of previously well-established flows of oil and gas is being increasingly questioned, with strong economic foundations, a young aspirational population, and an investment friendly environment, India emerges as the epicentre of the global energy landscape, with the energy sector representing one of the most critical components of India’s growth. India Energy Week 2024 will showcase India’s achievement as a catalyst for global economic growth with billions of dollars of investment needed to facilitate India’s energy transition and achieve its net-zero goals.

Drawing on the expertise of technical professionals, business leaders, and industrial end users, the India Energy Week Technical Conference offers energy professionals access to the latest industry knowledge and research findings, new project developments, state of the art technologies and industry best practices. The Technical Conference programme is created through the call for papers that was opened for abstract submissions to all companies operating within oil, gas, renewable and alternate energy, and the utilities value chain.

3. INDIA'S PATH TO SUSTAINABILITY

Rapidly advancing economic powerhouse, India faces the twin challenge of surging energy demand while mitigating its carbon footprint. In response, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the concept of “Panchamrit” at COP 26, representing a blend of five essential elements. “Panchamrit” underscores India’s commitment to addressing climate change and fostering sustainable growth on a global scale.

'Panchamrit': India's Five Point Pledge Towards Climate Change

  • India will take its non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030
  • By 2030, India will reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by less than 45%
  • India will meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030
  • By the year 2070, India will achieve target of net-zero
  • India will reduce the total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes till 2030
